What if I have a question for my Pediatric Subspecialist? Who should I contact?
If your child is experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 immediately. If you have a non-emergency question, you may call our clinic and speak with a nurse during regular business hours. For urgent medical problems after regular business hours, we provide a nurse and/or physician on-call 24 hours, 7 days per week, who can be reached by calling 334.699.3733.

What can I expect on our first visit to your clinic?
First, we will take a medical history of your child. Be prepared to answer very detailed questions about any symptoms that you may have noticed, when the symptoms began, and how frequently the symptoms occur. This may also include other questions about your child, such as developmental history, academic achievements, social history, and diet. Once the medical history is complete, your child will receive a complete medical examination. If our pediatric subspecialist determines that additional tests may be necessary or helpful for your child, you will be told about them during your child’s visit and they will be scheduled at a mutually agreed upon time.

What should I bring with me to my first appointment?
A parent or legal guardian should accompany your child to the clinic. If this person is not available, an adult who is aware of your child’s symptoms and medical history can accompany your child. Please be sure you have your insurance card with you as well as any relevant medical records or previous testing reports that you may have.

What is a Pediatric Subspecialist, and why is my child being referred to Dothan Pediatric Subspecialty Clinic?
Pediatric Subspecialists are pediatricians who have chosen to specialize in specific areas of pediatric medicine. Pediatric subspecialists are required to complete extra training in their chosen field after finishing their residency in pediatrics. Your child has been referred to our clinic because your child’s doctor believes he or she may benefit from visiting a pediatric subspecialist. We will work with both you and your pediatrician to determine the best treatment plan for your child.
